If you are looking for outdoor activities to enjoy during your stay in Los Angeles, the city is full of amazing opportunities to take advantage of. A local favorite, The Hollywood Bowl is an outdoor venue that is unique in that it allows guests to bring in a picnic dinner, including wine and beer, to be enjoyed while watching a live show under the stars! This summer season, the Hollywood Bowl has many performances scheduled, including Shakespeare at the Bowl. This event will take place on Tuesday, August 30th and Thursday, September 1st.
At Shakespeare at the Bowl you will be able to listen to the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform select pieces that have been inspired by some of Shakespeare’s classic plays. In addition, you will also be able to see classic scenes acted out on stage. The performances will be performed in honor of Shakespeare’s death 400 years ago. The program will consist of the Philharmonic, conducted by Bramwell Tovey, perform Suite, Op 11 from Much Ado About Nothing. Following this will be Suite No. 1 from Antoine et Cleopatre. After the intermission, Queen Mab Scherzo from Romeo et Juliette will be performed. The finale of the show will be the Fantasy Overture from Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet.
Both performances of Shakespeare at the Bowl will take place at 8pm. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Tickets range in price from $10 - $100. If you will be bringing food and drink to this performance, wine bottles, wine glasses, and beer bottles are allowed inside the venue.
