There are plenty of locations in Los Angeles that are great for exploring and having fun with friends. When you stay at motels on wilshire blvd los angeles, not only will you be close to bars and restaurants, you’ll also be within easy access to the Los Angeles river. LA river kayak opportunities are also possible, which is a fun and new way to explore Los Angeles.

For many years, the LA river was known to locals as simply a concrete channel that was located throughout the city. Now, all that is changing and the river is up and running and is open daily from sunrise to sunset through the end of September. The Los Angeles River Recreation Zone is the area of the Los Angeles river that has a soft bottom and where wildlife and the natural habitat flourishes. The two locations are at the Elysian River Recreation Zone and the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Zone that extends for about two miles. Individuals using kayaks and canoes are allowed on the river and do not need permits. Motorized boats are not allowed on the river.

If you do not have your own kayaks, there are a number of different outfitters where you can rent a kayak from. Some of these include LA River Kayak Safari, LA River Expeditions and LA River Kayaks. LA River Kayak Safari will also offer guided trips for those who are new to the area or are new to kayaking. Along the way you’ll learn about some river lore and enjoy a downstream paddle that is both fun and challenging and is also filled with plenty of natural wildlife to enjoy. Even if you are new to paddling, they’ll show you some techniques and teach you what you need to know so you can enjoy kayaking through the LA River!
