Even though Los Angeles is the home of the rich and famous, it doesn’t mean that you have to spend as much money as Hollywood starlets. In fact, there are a number of things that you can enjoy in LA for little to no money. Here are some things you can explore when traveling on a budget in Los Angeles.

The Griffith Observatory is a hidden jewel located in the hills above Los Angeles. Admission to the observatory is completely free as are all the exhibits. Inside the observatory is also the Samuel Oschin Planetarium. In the planetarium, enjoy exciting shows such as Centered in the Universe, which takes audiences on an exciting journey through the cosmos. While you have to buy tickets for a show, tickets are affordable on any budget! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. For more information visit www.griffithobservatory.org

If you find yourself in West LA, head over to the Venice Canals. These beautiful canals are surprisingly a well kept secret that many locals don’t even know about. Always wished you could ride on a gondola? At the Venice Canals now you can! If you’d like to avoid that ride, simply enjoy a free walk along the bridges that take you over the canals. The canals are beautifully decorated and is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing walk.

The Los Angeles California Museum of Art prides itself on bringing the community the most innovative exhibits around; one of which is the Rain Room. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to control the rain? In the Rain Room you can finally experience it. This special exhibit has been extended through April 24th. Head over to www.lacma.org for ticket information.

On the 2nd Thursday of each month, head out to the Downtown Art Walk. This is a perfect way to not only explore areas of downtown, it also allows you the opportunity to see local talent and to find incredible art pieces. The art takes place in and around galleries that are found along Spring and Main streets from 2nd to 9th Street.  For more information visit www.downtownartwalk.org

If you are stumped on where  to stay when in town, there is a variety of budget-friendly hotels in Los Angeles to choose from.
