The Ebell Club is a women’s social club that began in 1897. It’s current location is the original building that was built in 1927 in the Hancock Park area. The club was built as a response to the fact that women were largely denied a college education at the time. The women in the club would participate in activities such as reading Shakespeare, learning about art appreciation and gardening. Today the club is still active and continues to host gatherings and social events. The theatre holds a seating capacity of 1,270 and is elegantly decorated.
