Thanks to the almost always sunny weather in Los Angeles, there are always fun, outdoor activities that can be taken advantage of. If you are looking to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and explore the city, here are some outdoor activities to do in Los Angeles.

The LA ZOO is a great option if you are looking for an all day activity. Filled with family-friendly activities and entertainment options, the LA Zoo is more than just a place to look at animals. However, with over 250 types of species and over 100 acres to work with, the LA Zoo also offers an incredible selection of animals to view as well. Some of their major exhibits include the Elephants of Asia, the Campo Gorilla Reserve, the Red Ape Rainforest, the Chimpanzees of the Mahale Mountains and the Sea Life Cliffs. If you want to spend some time exploring Downtown LA, an excellent place to stop and relax is Grand Park. With outdoor seating areas, beautiful gardens and a wide, sprawling lawn to lay back and relax, Grand Park has it all. There is also a fun wading area for kids and parents to stay cool when the temperatures rise. Be on the lookout for outdoor concerts that are often held throughout the year. In addition, throughout the week, there are also food trucks that park along the streets from 11am-2pm so stop by and enjoy! For more information visit www.grandparkla.org

Another outdoor area in downtown is Pershing Square. The space is often used for outdoor concerts, especially during the summer. The park is also historically significant as the space has been used since 1866. During WWI, the park was was also used as location for public forums and as a reception space to welcome returning militia. When there are no concerts or events going on, simply use the space recreationally and enjoy the day. Visit www.laparks.org/pershingsquare for more information.

Santa Monica Pier is one of the most visited tourist destinations in all of Southern California - and for good reason! Even if you don’t want to get into the water, you can spend the day on the pier shopping through boutiques, eating as various food destinations and even hitting the bars at night. During the day, stop by the carnival section of the pier where there are fun carnival rides, games, and even a roller coaster! For hours of operation visit www.santamonicapier.org
